Triumphant Return:

For some of us, there has been a large and deep void in our television experience for too long. A space so cavernous as to consume even staples like the Simpsons, or even South Park (for those who have a more base sense of humor). Finally, however, this hole is filled. That's right, the Family Guy is back! And while it may not be better than ever, it certainly is in keeping with the grand humor in which it found its beginning.

There have been two new episodes since Fox brought this instant classic back to TV. the first seemed a touch scatterbrained, but it was not without some excellent jokes. The second episode was more in keeping with some of the better episodes from previous seasons, and I am excited to see what comes next.

On a sadder note, I have been less than impressed with the Family Guy's creator Seth McFarlane in his new show, American Dad. This program is, in my opinion, overly politicized, overachieving, and without significant dimension. Having seen all three episodes (the pilot and the two shown after Family Guy) I can say that the characters lack depth that makes them interesting, and the best chance for comic relief (a german speaking goldfish who constantly oggles the matriarch of this show) gets little to no airtime.

To return to the subject of this post (which is lacking in my usual content, which shall resumme soon) the new Apple operating system, OS X 10.4, fondly referred to as Tiger, is a welcome and terrific upgrade. I could spend some time discussing the virtues of a built-in search tool such as Spotlight, or the fun of the new Dashboard and its widgets, but to truly appreciate such new toys, one must experience them firsthand.
